Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has launched a comprehensive response to address the recent surge in cholera and dengue cases across the country. In light of the rising infection rates, Health Minister Pradip Paudel has directed immediate and effective measures to tackle the situation.
Following Minister Paudel’s directives, the Ministry has implemented both short-term and long-term strategies to curb the spread of these diseases. Rapid response teams, coordinated by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, are actively working in affected areas in partnership with provincial and local governments. Their efforts are focused on controlling cholera outbreaks and monitoring symptoms among those in contact with infected patients.
In addition to these measures, the Ministry has emphasized the importance of improving the quality of drinking water to prevent water-borne diseases. Discussions with local authorities have been held to address this critical issue.
To further safeguard public health, the Ministry is enhancing food quality monitoring at all administrative levels. A National Cholera Control/Prevention Plan for 2024-2030 is also in the works to ensure long-term solutions to these ongoing challenges.
The Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and is committed to implementing effective strategies to protect the health of the population.
