Govt to distribute relief to flood and landslide victims

Kathmandu: The government has decided to provide relief to the families of those killed in floods and landslides and provide free treatment to the injured.

The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday has decided to provide relief worth Rs 200,000 to the families who lost one person in floods and landslides and an additional Rs 100,000 per person to those who lost more than one person.

The government has also decided to provide free treatment to those injured in floods and landslides. Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand informed that the government has decided to focus on immediate search, rescue, and relief of the flood and landslide affected people and to mobilize equipment and manpower to restart the closed roads, electricity, and communication.

Meanwhile, the government has also decided to provide relief to those who lost their land and houses in floods and landslides.

Similarly, Rs. 300,000 will be provided for the reconstruction of private housing in the Himalayan region, Rs. 400,000 in the hilly region and Rs. 500,000 in the Terai as per the government norms.
