Govt preparing to open school in name of culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi

Kathmandu: The government is preparing to set up a ‘Satya Mohan Joshi Secondary School’ in the name of Satya Mohan Joshi, a cultural expert and man of the century. The Ministry of Education has started preparations to open a school in Joshi’s name as per the wishes of President Vidyadevi Bhandari.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha reached Joshi’s residence on Tuesday and briefed him about the government’s preparations. Minister Shrestha said that preparations have started to start the work from the next fiscal year. He also said that a suitable place for the school is being sought.

Minister Shrestha said that he would work with the objective of establishing Satya Mohan Joshi Secondary School as a model school. According to him, a full-sized statue of Joshi will be placed at the main entrance of the school and there will be a flower garden around it.

Expressing happiness over the government’s plan, cultural expert Joshi urged to build a school in a backward class place. “I was proud to see the government issue postage stamps and coins in recognition of my contribution to art, literature, culture and history,” said Joshi. I am one of them and now I hope to see the school. ‘

Chief of the Lalitpur Municipal Corporation Chirbabu Maharjan said that the government’s respect for Joshi has enhanced the prestige of the corporation. Maharjan informed that the Lalitpur Municipal Corporation has reached the final stage of naming the road from Pulchowk to Gwarko as Satya Mohan Joshi Marg in Joshi’s honor.
