Gen-Z Movement: Protesters set fire to presidential palace

Kathmandu: Gen Z protesters set fire to the President’s Office at Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday, as anti-government demonstrations intensified across the capital and beyond.

The wave of unrest, triggered by the killing of 19 youths during Monday’s police crackdown, has escalated into widespread attacks targeting political leaders and state institutions. Demonstrators have torched Singha Durbar, the Federal Parliament building, the Supreme Court, Special Court, District Court, and several residences and offices of top political leaders.

Tensions flared outside the Parliament building after protesters reportedly seized weapons from security personnel and fired shots into the air. Security forces have since tightened cordons around key sites, but protesters continue to set fires and vandalize government property.

Despite curfews imposed across the Kathmandu Valley, demonstrations persist. The violence comes shortly after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced his resignation on Tuesday afternoon amid mounting public pressure.
