Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa has expressed happiness over the Supreme Court’s decision on parliament dissolution.
After the Supreme Court’s decision on Tuesday, Thapa has said, “The Supreme Court has defended the constitution by dismissing the Prime Minister’s audacity to rule against the constitution and the conspiracy.”
He also said that this decision of the court has further increased people’s confidence towards the court. The court has raised the public’s trust in the judiciary by standing firmly in favor of the constitution without fear and pressure.
Thirteen writ petitions were filed in the Supreme Court earlier, saying the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives was unconstitutional. A Constitutional Court was constituted to hear the writ petition. Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR, Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Anil Kumar Sinha, Sapna Pradhan Malla and Tej Bahadur KC were present in the Constitutional Court.
Similarly, the Supreme Court has ordered to convene a meeting of the parliament within 13 days.
