Kathmandu: During the state visit of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari to Bangladesh from Monday, various memorandums of understanding will be signed between the two countries.
During the visit, at least four MoUs will be signed. An agreement to amend the transit agreement between Nepal and Bangladesh will be signed, a foreign ministry source said. According to the agreement, Bangladesh has agreed to allow Rohanpur-Singawad railway route to be used by Nepal for transit purposes. Bangladesh has been providing transit facility to Nepal for a long time.
Similarly, a memorandum of understanding on sanitary and cyto sanitary will be signed between Nepal and Bangladesh. The meeting of the Council of Ministers has authorized the Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to reach an agreement in this regard.
A memorandum of understanding on tourism promotion is also scheduled to be signed between Nepal and Bangladesh during the President’s visit. Although there is a lot of potential for tourism between Nepal and Bangladesh, not much has been achieved so far. Now, after the agreement, various programs will be implemented for the promotion of tourism between the two countries.
According to a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Bangladesh on cultural exchange programs.
Apart from these agreements, discussions will be held on energy cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh, trade promotion and other issues, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
