Former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane arrested for embezzlement charges

Kathmandu: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has been arrested on charges of embezzling funds from cooperatives. The arrest occurred on Friday evening at the central office of his political party, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), located in Banasthali, Kathmandu.

As police took Lamichhane into custody, RSP leaders and supporters voiced their discontent, chanting slogans against Prime Minister K P Oli. The arrest follows an order from the Kaski District Court, which issued a warrant earlier that day based on Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperative scams.

In response to the arrest warrant, Lamichhane expressed his outrage through a Facebook post, condemning the government’s actions.
