Former Ambassador Rukmashamsher Rana passes away

Kathmandu: Former Ambassador to India Rukmashamsher Rana has passed away. Rana has died last night at his residence in Battisputali at the age of 85.

He had been undergoing regular dialysis after the kidney transplant. Rukmashamsher, the youngest son of Nepali Congress founder Shuvarnashamsher, was India’s ambassador from 2009 to 2011. He was also twice a member secretary of the National Sports Council, the apex body of Nepali sports.

He was the honorary chairman of the Olympic Committee.
