Kathmandu: Rajiv Gurung, a minister in Gandaki Province, has resigned from his position. Gurung, who is popularly known as Deepak Manange, submitted his resignation via a letter to Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pande through his personal secretary.

During today’s government reorganization, Chief Minister Pande appointed Manange to the Ministry of Forests and Environment. However, Manange expressed dissatisfaction, citing the ministry’s limited budget and minimal work, leading him to feel disinclined to continue. He also mentioned a general reluctance to remain in a ministerial role.

Previously, Manange served as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport. Chief Minister Pande, who had previously saved the government twice with votes of confidence, expanded the number of ministries from seven to nine yesterday.

Manange has recommended Munindra Jung Gurung, an elected provincial legislator from Manang, as his successor.
