Kathmandu: Nepal experienced a decline in foreign tourist arrivals in July, with 64,599 tourists arriving by air, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. This figure represents an 11.91 percent increase compared to the same month last year but shows a notable decrease from June’s total of 76,736 visitors.
The decline is attributed to the off-season period, which typically sees reduced tourist numbers. The July arrivals include 21,491 tourists from India, 7,834 from the US, 6,819 from China, 3,806 from the UK, 3,470 from Bangladesh, 1,901 from Australia, 1,537 from South Korea, 1,125 from Malaysia, and 1,114 from Japan.
The influx of foreign tourists saw a peak of 128,000 in March this year, but numbers dropped to 111,000 in April and further decreased to 90,000 in May. The July statistics reflect the ongoing seasonal variations impacting Nepal’s tourism industry.
