Foreign Minister instructs Embassies to be alert on status of Nepalis in Israel and Lebanon

Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba has directed Nepalese embassies to provide regular updates on the situation of Nepalese nationals in Israel and Lebanon. During a virtual meeting with Nepalese ambassadors in these countries, she sought information on the latest developments affecting Nepalese citizens.

Minister Rana expressed growing concern in Nepal regarding the conditions of Nepalese nationals, particularly in Lebanon, and instructed ambassadors to maintain contact with them and their families to offer necessary support. She emphasized the importance of preparing for potential evacuations if the need arises.

Furthermore, Minister Rana directed relevant embassies to issue communications designating contact persons and to establish help desks to provide assistance and coordination for any Nepalese facing difficulties.

During the meeting, Nepalese Ambassador to Egypt, Sushil Lamsal, reported that there are currently no major issues for Nepalese nationals in Lebanon, where approximately 1,200 Nepalese reside, mostly engaged in domestic work. He noted that only three individuals had been in contact with the embassy based on their issued notices.

Acting Nepalese Ambassador to Israel, Kumar Shrestha, stated that the situation in Israel is normal and that nearly 4,500 Nepalese nationals there are safe.

Additionally, the meeting included insights from Nepalese Ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, who provided updates on the current situation in Iran.
