Kathmandu: In a historic development, a single-engine private jet from India became the first chartered flight to land at the Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA) in nearly two years since the airport’s inauguration. The jet, operated by the European company Zell Air, arrived from New Delhi, India, on Thursday afternoon.
According to PRIA, the aircraft, carrying four passengers, including the crew, touched down at 5:50 pm. The jet will stay overnight in Pokhara and is scheduled to fly from Pokhara to Bangladesh on Friday.
While chartered flights from China and Bhutan have previously landed at PRIA, this marks a significant milestone for the airport, as it is the first flight from India. Additionally, a US-based jet from Wingtip Corporation had arrived for parking on November 2, 2024.
Looking ahead, a chartered flight from Sichuan Airlines, China, is expected to land at PRIA on December 26 to participate in the Dragon Boat Race in Pokhara, further bolstering the airport’s international presence.
