Kathmandu: Air pollution has hit the Kathmandu valley recently. As the smoke spread in the lower level of the atmosphere, the smell of smoke was experienced when going outside the house.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, informed that this smoke is coming from the fires that are happening in different parts of the country.
In the last 24 hours, forest fires have broken out in six hundred and two places in the country. Smoke is spreading in the air in many places including the valley.
In some places, the sky has been clouded by smoke. The risk is higher this year because there is more fuel in the forest due to less rain in winter and fewer fires last year.
Almost all incidents of such fires are caused by human causes. Although some are accidental, most of the incidents are due to negligence.
Around 65 percent of the fires are caused by fires deliberately set by people.
