Kathmandu: Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly, Bimala Ghimire, has expressed the view that ending the poverty sustainably in developing and the least developed countries has become a challenge.
Addressing the Sanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Forum on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development today at Xian city of China, Ghimire said it has become challenging to end poverty sustainably due to lack of access to education, health, food security and basic facilities, according to Parliament Secretariat.
“More than one billion people of the world live in extreme poverty. Specially, it has become challenge to end poverty sustainably in developing and underdeveloped countries in lack of access to education, health, employment, food security and basic facilities”, she opined.
The NA Vice-Chairperson stated that SCO has been playing significant role since its establishment as a powerful multilateral forum for promoting regional peace, stability, economic prosperity and social justice.
She reiterated that Nepal has highly evaluated the contribution, initiatives and collaboration of Forum for poverty reduction and sustainable development.
