Election update: Final results of 690 municipalities made public

Kathmandu: Results of 690 municipalities have been released so far.

According to the Election Commission, the results of 690 municipalities, including 243 municipalities and 447 rural municipalities, have been made public.

As per the published results the Nepali Congress has won major posts in 305 municipalities including 121 mayors and 184 ward chairpersons.

The Congress has won 280 seats, including 93 for deputy mayor and 187 for vice-chair of wards.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML is in second place. It has won 187 municipalities, including 66 for mayor and 121 for ward chairperson.

UML has won 89 deputy mayors and 122 vice-chair in 211 rural municipalities.

The UCPN-M has won the posts of mayor and vice-chairperson in 119 municipalities with 23 mayors and 96 chairpersons and 31 deputy mayors and vice-chairmen in 93 rural municipalities.

According to the Election Commission, the UCPN (Maoist) has won mayors in nine municipalities, Janata Samajwadi Party has won mayors and chairpersons in 19 municipalities and other parties have won mayors and chairpersons in 51 municipalities so far.
