Kathmandu: The Election Commission has asked Nepal Communist Party Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for an explanation.
The commission said that it has asked for more details on the statements made by the candidates regarding the expenses incurred in the local elections.
A few days ago, Chairman Prachanda expressed that there were reports that the candidates had spent up to Rs 100 million to win the ruralmunicipality chairmanship.
An official informed that the Commission has written a letter asking Prachanda to clarify the same statement.
According to the commission, there was a correspondence requesting to provide the details of what is the basis for making such an expression and which village chairman has spent the money.
