Election comission requests not to use helicopters for election campaign

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has asked political parties not to use helicopters for campaigning in the by-elections.

For the by-elections to be held in Bara, Chitwan and Tanahun, as per the election code of conduct, there is enough time for campaigning in any place without using helicopters, and since there is easy access to transportation in those districts, the commission has requested to adopt frugality without using helicopters.

Similarly, the commission has also informed the government agencies and private helicopter service providers not to provide services for election campaigns without their consent for the full implementation of the election code of conduct.

Previously, there was a system of allowing the two main campaigners of any party to use helicopters in Nepal’s geographically complicated and difficult places.
