Kathmandu: Former President Donald Trump was the target of an attempted assassination while golfing at his West Palm Beach club on Sunday. The incident marks the second such attempt on Trump’s life in just nine weeks.
Secret Service agents stationed near the golf course spotted the muzzle of an AK-style rifle emerging from the shrubbery approximately 400 yards away from Trump. Local media have reported that an agent fired at the suspect, who then abandoned the rifle, two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera before fleeing in an SUV. The suspect was later apprehended by authorities in a neighboring county.
Trump was unharmed in the incident and has confirmed his safety. The attack adds to the already tumultuous campaign year, which has included a previous shooting incident involving Trump and the recent withdrawal of President Joe Biden from the race.
