Kathmandu: Now Kathmandu and Indonesia will be connected by direct flight. For this, Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia, is going to fly directly from the capital Jakarta to Kathmandu.
For the same purpose, the company has appointed Society International Travel Service as General Sales Agent (GSA) in Nepal. The Garuda Indonesia plans to operate direct flights from Soikarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to Tribhuvan Airport from next June-July.
Nepal’s national flag carrier has also planned to fly to Indonesia. According to the 10-year business action plan of the Nepal Airlines Corporation, from 2023 alone, the Nepal Airlines Corporation has plans to expand its service in Indonesia with widebody aircraft.
Currently, Malindo Air is flying from Malaysia for passengers going to Indonesia. It is transiting to Kuala Lumpur and flying to Indonesia. With the arrival of Garuda, the obligation to transit to Kuala Lumpur will also be removed.
Garuda Indonesia is the country’s state-owned airline. The company now connects Jakarta with more than 60 destinations.
Lately, Indonesia has been an attractive destination for Nepali outbound tourists. The crowd of Nepali passengers has increased in Jakarta, Bali and other destinations. The Kathmandu-Jakarta flight will benefit passengers from both Nepali and Indonesian destinations.
Indonesia has also provided on-arrival visa facility for Nepali travelers. That is why Nepali outbound tourists are attracted to this country for hassle-free travel.
