Dengue outbreak spreads to 74 districts in Nepal

Kathmandu: As of August 9, dengue fever has spread across 74 districts in Nepal, with a total of 4,097 reported cases. The Epidemology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) has confirmed that two people have died from dengue-related complications during this period.

Gandaki Province has experienced the highest number of infections, with 1,669 reported cases. Tanahun district within this province has recorded the highest infection rate, with 781 confirmed cases.

In Kathmandu, 380 cases of dengue have been identified. Other affected areas include Kaski with 351 cases, Parbat with 177 cases, Chitwan with 157 cases, and Jhapa with 149 cases. The number of infections in the remaining districts is below 100.

The EDCD reports that dengue has been detected in every district except Mustang, Humla, and Jumla. The division continues to monitor and respond to the outbreak as it evolves.
