CIB begins investigation of former State Minister Ram Chandra Rai’s murder

Kathmandu: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) has launched a thorough investigation into the tragic murder of former State Minister Ram Chandra Rai, according to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak’s statement during a House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Tuesday.

Rai, an 80-year-old statesman residing in Malangawa Municipality-4, was found murdered on Sunday night at his farmhouse in Chandranagar Rural Municipality-1. Reports indicate he sustained injuries from a sharp weapon to the left side of his head.

Minister Lekhak disclosed that a CIB team has been dispatched to Sarlahi to handle the case. During preliminary investigations, an axe believed to be the murder weapon was discovered in a bamboo bush approximately 50 meters northwest of the crime scene.

In addition, authorities have detained Ramdev Rai, an employee at the victim’s residence, for questioning in connection with the murder.

The incident has stirred concern and speculation within the local community and political circles alike, prompting heightened security measures in the area.
