Kathmandu: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken legal action by filing a corruption case against 18 individuals linked to the Melamchi Water Supply Project. The case, submitted to the special court on Sunday, includes three former secretaries and other notable figures.
Former secretaries Bhim Upadhyaya, Sanjay Sharma, and Gajendra Thakur are among the accused, according to sources within the CIAA. In addition to the former secretaries, Rudra Singh Tamang, the director general (DG) of the Department of Immigration (DoI), has also been named as a defendant in the case.
The allegations extend beyond domestic figures, as both Nepali and foreign consultants are implicated in corrupt practices related to the Melamchi Water Supply Project, as per reliable sources. The CIAA aims to address these accusations and bring those involved to justice through the legal proceedings initiated at the special court.
