Kathmandu: English club Chelsea have reached the quarterfinals of the European Champions League after seven years.
Chelsea beat Spanish club Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the second leg of the last 16 on Wednesday night to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
London club Chelsea won the first leg 1-0 and won 3-0 overall.
Hakim GH and Emerson scored a goal each to give Chelsea the win in the second leg at home.
GH scored in the 34th minute to give Chelsea the lead. Emerson scored in injury time to give Chelsea a 2-0 victory.
Atletico were reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute when Stefan Savic was shown a red card.
Chelsea have reached the quarterfinals for the first time since the 2013/14 season.
