Kathmandu: A tragic bus accident involving pilgrims from Nepal occurred late Saturday night in Samastipur, India. The vehicle, identified as bus number Na 7 Kha 6446, was transporting 47 passengers, including 25 women and six children, when it was struck from behind by a truck.
The collision resulted in 45 injuries, with three individuals reported in critical condition. The critically injured are Dev Narayan Pandit, Subodh Shah Teli, and a nine-year-old girl. Two passengers emerged from the accident unscathed.
According to Bara District Police Office, the bus was en route to religious sites in India, including Devghar Babadham in Bihar. All the passengers are from Murtipaliya, Baragadhi Rural Municipality-3 in Bara, Nepal.
The injured have been taken to Samastipur Sadar Hospital and various private clinics for treatment. The bus entered India through the Raxaul checkpoint at approximately 11:00 AM on Saturday. It is owned by Rajaram Shah from Baragadi-1.
Indian security forces are investigating the cause of the collision.
