Biska festival begins in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu: Biska Festival also known as Bisket Jatra of Bhaktapur is all set to begin from today evening.
This festival will be celebrated for eight nights and nine days from today. This festival is also famous as tongue piercing festival.

It is customary to start the Jatra by pulling the chariot of Bhairavnath in front of the Panchtale temple in Toumadhi on Monday evening.

According to which, on the first day of the Jatra, the chariot of Bhadrakali along with Bhairavnath is pulled.

There is a tradition of pulling the chariot from the five-story temple courtyard to the upper and lower areas with Bhairavnath the main deity and Betal deity sitting on the chariot.
