Kathmandu: Bird flu has been detected in Surkhet district. The provincial poultry directorate has confirmed that bird flu has been detected in turkeys reared in the farm of farmer Tekraj Acharya of Birendranagar-3.
An emergency meeting held at the district administration office after the bird flu was detected has decided to destroy the birds immediately.
The meeting also decided to sanitize the area around the poultry farm where bird flu has been confirmed.
