Chitwan (Rashtriya Samachar Samiti): Bird flu has been detected at Anita Livestock Farm located in Rapti Municipality-6, Chitwan.
Chief District Officer Asman Tamang informed that the infection was confirmed on Thursday after the samples were collected and sent to Kathmandu on January 9 after the chickens started dying on the farm.
According to him, bird flu has been detected in the H5N1 virus. The farm has 2,000 chickens. He said that the work of destroying the birds around 100 meters from the farm has been conducted today.
He said that the sales have also been halted by the firm. He informed that samples of suspicious firms will also be collected and tested.
He further informed that today’s meeting of the Bird Flu Prevention and Control Committee, Chitwan, has decided to move ahead with the Bird Flu Control Rules, 2078 BS.
