Bir hospital to operate free 700 general beds for public

Kathmandu: 700 general beds of Bir Hospital have been made free from Friday.

The Executive Council of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) has decided to make 700 beds of the hospital free for the general public.

Earlier, a fee of Rs. 200 per bed was charged. From now on, any patient will have to pay for a bed.

Hospital cabins and ICUs will be charged though. The government on Thursday appointed Dr. Bhupendra Basnet as Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lochan Karki as Rector, Dr. Gyanendra Shah as Registrar and Dr. Ashesh Dhungana as Dean.
