Kathmandu: Dr. Bhim Rawal, who was recently expelled from the CPN-UML, is preparing to disclose his future political plans at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday. According to his associate Govinda Duwal, Rawal will use the platform to outline his next steps and address ongoing speculation about his political trajectory.
The event will take place at 1 p.m. at Karki Banquet in Kathmandu. Insiders suggest that Rawal has been considering the formation of a new political party. “Since his expulsion, Rawal has been exploring the possibility of starting a new party,” Duwal stated. “The press conference will confirm his decision and provide further details.”
Rawal’s removal from the CPN-UML’s membership was finalized during a Secretariat meeting on December 25. A veteran leader of the UML with nearly 50 years of service, Rawal had contested the party’s chairmanship against KP Sharma Oli during the 10th General Convention in Chitwan in 2022. Following the convention, however, he became less active in party activities.
In recent days, Rawal has ramped up his political engagements. On Monday morning, he held discussions with Nepali Congress (BP) Vice President Karan Malla and Dr. Tara Joshi, an independent member of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly.
The upcoming press conference is expected to shed light on Rawal’s next move and whether he will proceed with the formation of a new political party.
