Kathmandu: The Insurance Committee, the regulatory body, has instructed all insurance companies to pay the claims of Corona Insurance within seven days.
The committee issued the directive after widespread complaints that many people have not been paid their insurance claims for a long time. The issue of Corona Insurance was also discussed at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday afternoon. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel had asked the chairman of the insurance committee to make arrangements for the payment as soon as possible.
The meeting chaired by the Finance Minister has also decided to send a daily report of claim payment to the Ministry of Finance by coordinating and monitoring the work of the Insurance Committee.
Similarly, the Insurance Committee has decided to set up a help desk with a hotline telephone to instruct the concerned insurance companies to resolve the problem by hearing the complaints received from the service recipients in the payment of Corona Insurance claims, according to the Ministry of Finance.
Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Shishir Kumar Dhungana, Revenue Secretary Ram Sharan Pudasaini, Chairman of the Insurance Committee Chiranjeevi Chapagain and Chairman of the Insurance Association Deep Prakash Pandey were present at the meeting.
Chairman of the committee Chapagain said that instructions have been given to pay all the stopped payments. Chairman Chapagain informed that they have been instructed not to stop the claim after completing the documents.
The insurance committee had made an arrangement to insure a corona of Rs 50,000 by paying Rs 500 and Rs 100,000 by paying Rs 1,000. In case of group insurance, 50 percent discount was provided in the insurance fee.
