Kathmandu: The second meeting of the bilateral consultation mechanism between Nepal and Australia has been concluded in Australia.
In the second meeting of the mechanism held in Canberra, Australia, the Nepali team was led by Foreign Affairs Councilor Bharatraj Paudel and the Australian team was led by the Joint Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Justin Hirst.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Canberra, the issue of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation was discussed in the meeting of the mechanism.
Both sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and Australia in the fields of education, energy, investment, trade, tourism, technology and communication, immigration, environment, disaster reduction, etc.
They also discussed about exchanging high-level visits from both sides, expanding civil-level relations, promoting trade and exchanging experience in establishing peace in the United Nations.
Likewise, the Nepalese team led by Foreign Secretary Pandey has appreciated the support that Australia has been providing to Nepal and has requested to keep Nepal as a priority for Australian aid and increase the support.
Nepal has also asked for more support to improve the economic situation after the covid epidemic.
In the meeting, Australia committed to continue the support it has been providing to Nepal.
