Kathmandu: A new debate has started in Nepali politics amid suspicions that the disgruntled President Bidhya Devi Bhandari may resign with the government sending the Citizenship Bill as it is.
On Wednesday, the media close to the UML published news of the possibility of resignation.
In order to reinforce this, it has been reported that on Wednesday, the President also called the current and past security personnel who have been assigned to protect her and expressed her gratitude.
This has given more strength to the suspicion that the President is in the mood to resign. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also shared this news with his party leaders today.
Media close to the UML have analyzed that the resignation will preserve the nationalistic image of the President and it will also benefit her party UML.
In addition, the possibility of the president returning to active politics is also indicated.
On the Citizenship Bill, the President expressed her disagreement with legal issues. She is dissatisfied with the government’s failure.
