National Assembly elections scheduled for January 26

Kathmandu: Election of the National Assembly is scheduled to be held on January 26. A cabinet meeting on Thursday set the date for the election, a minister said.

The term of 20 members of the National Assembly is coming to an end on March 4. One of them will be nominated by the President and 19 will come from the election.

Also, there is a legal provision that a member of the National Assembly must be elected 35 days before the end of their term. Accordingly, the Election Commission had requested to hold the election by January 29.
