Kathmandu: The government has decided to recall all ambassadors appointed on the basis of political appointments.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed that the cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to recall all the ambassadors appointed by the previous government on the basis of political appointments.
After the decision of the Council of Ministers, all Nepali ambassadors working in China, India, United States and other countries will have to return however, ambassadors from the Foreign Service will not return. Nepali Ambassador to the United States Yubaraj Khatiwada, Nepali Ambassador to China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Nepali Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya including, Nepal’s ambassador to the UK, Lokdarshan Regmi, should return immediately.
Similarly, Nepali Ambassador to Oman Sharmila Parajuli, Nepali Ambassador to Japan Pratibha Rana, Nepali Ambassador to Qatar Narad Bhardwaj, Nepali Ambassador to Spain Dawa Futi Sherpa, Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Uday Raj Pandey will also have to return.
Similarly, Nepali Ambassador to Israel Anjan Shakya and other ambassadors will also return. The previous government had decided to appoint some persons as ambassadors contrary to the criteria for the appointment of ambassadors. The present government has even reversed that decision.
