Kathmandu: The Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-UML (Socialist) faction will have a 95-member central committee. In the application filed for party registration in the commission on Wednesday, Nepal faction has Jhala Nath Khanal as the chairman and senior leader.
Similarly, the Federal Parliament has 31 members in the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. As soon as President Bidhya Devi Bhandari issued the ordinance on political parties on the recommendation of the cabinet, the Nepal side applied for the registration of a new party.
The party has proposed an election symbol “book” but there is confusion over the open book symbol. The party’s flag is emblazoned with a red background and a hammer and sickle on the left. It is also said that the logo of the separate party will be hammered on the short party name and book inside the circle.
