Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has ordered a complete ban on plastic bags thinner than 40 microns within 21 days. A single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal directed to implement the 160th point of the budget statement.
In the budget statement, it has been said that plastic bags thinner than 40 microns will be completely banned from July 16 and the order has been issued time and again.
Stating that further policy and implementation level arrangements should be made to consult with the stakeholders within 10 days of formulating the action plan, the court said.
The court has asked the chief secretary to set up a mechanism to monitor the implementation of the action plan and submit a report every two months.
