Kathmandu: Nepal has won the first match of the tri-nation T20 series.
Nepal defeated Netherlands by nice wickets at the Tribhuan University Cricket Ground today. Nepal met the target of 137 runs set by the Netherlands by losing one wicket in 15 overs. Kushal Bhurtel and Ashif Sheikh, who made their debut in international cricket for Nepal today, played half-century innings. Kushal scored 50 runs off 30 balls. He hit five sixes and five fours and was dismissed for 62 runs.
Similarly, Ashif Sheikh completed his half century in 36 balls. Sheikh remained unbeaten on 54 runs with four fours and four sixes. In today’s match, Nepal also holds the record for most runs in an opening partnership. Kushal Bhurtel and Ashif Sheikh shared 116 runs in the opening over.
Earlier in 2019, Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla had shared an opening partnership of 108 runs.
