Kathmandu: The current corona vaccination campaign in Nepal has been postponed. The campaign has been postponed due to non-receipt of 1 million doses of vaccines purchased from the Serum Institute of India.
The vaccination campaign was launched in January after India provided one million corona vaccine. After vaccinating the frontliner, the government had even paid in advance to buy 2 million doses of vaccine. After receiving 1 million doses, the vaccination was started for the citizens above 23 to 55 years of age.
According to Ministry of health and population 1.673 million people have been vaccinated against corona till Wednesday.
But the vaccination campaign has been halted after Serum refused to vaccinate the remaining 1 million doses a day. Those who have been given the first dose have to be given the second dose from March 21, so the vaccine has to be secured.
