Kathmandu: Nepali climbers who set a world record by climbing the world’s second highest mountain Mt K2 in winter season have returned to Kathmandu.
The team including Nirmal Purja was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning with a bouquet of flowers and food. Representatives from different tourism oranizations have arrived at the airport to welcome them.
Ten Nepali mountaineers had successfully climbed Mount Ketu Himal in Pakistan on January 16.
Nepal’s Nirmal Purja, Mingma G. Sherpa, Mingma David Sherpa, Mingma Tenji Sherpa, Gelje Sherpa, Dawa Temba Sherpa, Pemchiri Sherpa, Kilupemba Sherpa, Dawa Tenzing Sherpa and Sonam Sherpa climbed the 8,611-meter high mountain at 5:45 pm local time on Saturday.
Among the ten climbers, Nirmal Purja had climbed without oxygen.
