Kathmandu: Leader of the Prachanda-Madhav faction of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that a new government will be formed by restoring the parliament.
A meeting of Prachanda-Madhav faction MPs held in New Baneshwor on Wednesday removed party president KP Sharma Oli and elected another president Prachanda as the leader of the parliamentary party . In the meeting, Madhav Kumar Nepal, who was elected chairman of the Prachanda-Madhav group only on Tuesday, had proposed to make Prachanda the leader of the party.
Giving a brief response to the media after the election of the leader of the parliamentary party, Prachanda said, “We are committed to forming a new government by re-establishing the parliament. We are in the process of creating a new situation by discussing with the leaders of other parliamentary parties as well.”
He said that they were legitimate as the meeting was held in the presence of 70 percent central members of the party. “There are 115 participants in the parliamentary party right now and some lawmakers have promised to sign. That is why we are the legitimate party in the parliamentary party, “he said.” It confirms that we are the biggest party.
Stating that there is a constitutional provision that the House of Representatives cannot be dissolved unless the government is formed, he said that the dissolution of the parliament by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was unconstitutional and undemocratic. “There is a big conspiracy behind this,” Prachanda said. “Now the world is watching this incident in Nepal with interest. The activities of domestic and foreign powers are being exposed.”
