Kathmandu: The Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Affairs Committee of the Parliament has directed the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security to investigate the syndicate of manpower companies in Qatar, an attractive destination country for Nepali workers.
A meeting of the committee held on Monday directed the ministry to investigate the matter as a complaint was lodged alleging that only a few manpower organizations were trying to maintain a monopoly by sending workers to Qatar from Nepal.
The manpower businessmen had submitted a petition to the committee objecting to the attempt of 17 different manpower to maintain a monopoly.
The Labor Committee has instructed the Ministry of Labor to seek clarification from those manpower organizations. For some time now, manpower businessmen have been accusing 17 different manpower companies of trying to maintain a monopoly to send workers to Qatar for employment.
As the Qatar embassy in Nepal and the Qatar Visa Center are trying to establish a syndicate by selecting the names of 17 manpower in collusion, there is a demand from the businessmen for immediate investigation.
