Death toll from floods and landslides rises to 60 across Nepal

Kathmandu: The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall last Friday and Saturday has risen to 60, police confirmed on Monday.

According to the Nepal Police, the deceased include 19 men, 26 women, and 15 children.

Ilam district has reported the highest number of casualties, with 37 people losing their lives due to floods and landslides. Similarly, eight deaths were reported in Panchthar, three in Udayapur, two in Khotang, and one in Sunsari.

Three fatalities were recorded in Rautahat, while one person each died in Morang, Mahottari, Sindhupalchok, and Sindhuli. Two deaths were reported in Kavre district.

Authorities have deployed rescue teams to the affected areas, while efforts continue to locate missing individuals and provide relief to displaced families.
