Kathmandu: The forensic test of the dead bodies of the Gen-Z Revolt has been delayed since the Forensic Department of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) is yet to receive official letter from the Nepal Police.
The Forensic Department of the TUTH is carrying out the forensic examinations of the dead bodies who died during the protests of the Gen-Z. Chief of Department Dr Gopal Chaudhary shared that the Department has received letters from the relatives of nine dead persons so far.
And, of them, three dead bodies were submitted to their relatives after the postmortem. Dr Chaudhary told the RSS that 36 dead bodies including three of police persons have been kept at the TUTH for the forensic test. The dead bodies include two women.
It is said that some of the dead bodies were taken there on September 8 but postmortem process was delayed for lack of letters from the Nepal Police. “We cannot begin the postmortem without the letter. Forensic test should be started only by completing the processes,” Chaudhary added.
The dead bodies there are not in the status to carryout the DNA testing but examinations will be conducted through dental analysis and fingerprint testing in the cases where the dead bodies cannot be identified.
Currently, a team of nine members of the Department including six doctors and three assistants is handling the forensic process. The post-mortem examinations are being carried out at Patan Hospital. According to the Nepal Police, 51 people including three police personnel, 21 protesters, 18 others and nine inmates died in the protests.
