Gen-Z Movement, Water-suppy minister resigns

Kathmandu: The Minister for Water Supply has announced resignation, expressing solidarity with the ongoing Gen Z protests and condemning the government’s violent crackdown on demonstrators.

In a statement addressed to the nation’s youth, the minister said they are the “primary supporters” and the driving force behind the country’s energy and spirit. The minister added that Monday’s Gen Z movement, which sought to voice concerns over governance and civic rights, was met with unwarranted force by authorities.

Calling for calm and restraint, the minister urged citizens to guide and support the young protesters in the right direction. “I announce my resignation from the Ministry of Water Supply in protest of the state’s actions, and I appeal to everyone to remain patient while assisting the youth,” the statement read.

The resignation marks another high-profile exit from the government amid escalating nationwide unrest following Monday’s deadly crackdown, which left 19 protesters dead and hundreds injured.
