Kathmandu: The Nepal Teachers Association (NTA) has called on private schools across the country to close in solidarity with the ongoing nationwide teachers’ protest.
In a statement issued Saturday, the NTA appealed to institutional school operators to support the educational general strike by suspending all academic activities. “We request all concerned stakeholders to support this educational general strike campaign by closing down institutional schools to make it a success,” the statement reads.
The association has also directed teachers and staff from across the country to gather in Kathmandu and fully participate in the movement. During the protest period, the NTA has instructed all teachers to refrain from opening schools, conducting entrance or grade improvement exams, evaluating answer sheets, or engaging in any academic activities such as workshops, seminars, or educational tours.
Furthermore, the NTA has requested principals, teachers, and school staff not to participate in the upcoming Grade 12 board examinations.
The protest, which has already disrupted classes in government schools, is expected to affect around six million students nationwide.
