Kathmandu: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to develop a common agenda and concept for the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambad, an international dialogue focused on the impacts of climate change, scheduled to be held from May 16 to 18.
According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), a delegation from the Maoist Centre’s Department of Forest, Environment and Climate met with Prime Minister Oli at his Singh Durbar office on Sunday. The team, led by department chief Madhav Sapkota, welcomed the government’s initiative to organize the global event and emphasized the importance of presenting a unified national stance.
Prime Minister Oli, who also chairs the Sambad steering committee, assured the delegation of broader consultation with all political parties to ensure the success of the event. “The Sambad should rise above party lines and become a collective national effort,” he said, according to RSS.
The Sagarmatha Sambad, originally announced several years ago, had been postponed multiple times due to various reasons, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
