Nepal should capitalize on China’s progress for national prosperity: NA Chair Dahal

Kathmandu: Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has emphasized the importance of leveraging China’s development for Nepal’s own economic and social advancement. Speaking at the Nepal-China Economic and Trade Conference held today in Kathmandu to mark the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, Chair Dahal highlighted the rapid progress made by China in sectors including economy, society, and technology.

Dahal noted that Nepal, which shares deep-rooted diplomatic and political ties with China since the establishment of formal relations in 1955, remains committed to the One China Principle and looks forward to continued cooperation in mutual interests.

He stated, “There is no alternative to building a prosperous Nepal and ensuring political stability in order to move ahead on the path of socialism. I believe Nepal will receive further support and cooperation from the Chinese government as in the past.”

Chair Dahal also informed that both houses of the federal parliament had unanimously passed legislation related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, aiming to conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process.

Reflecting on seven decades of bilateral relations, he underscored the achievements in areas such as trade, infrastructure, energy, tourism, and people-to-people ties. Dahal asserted that these advancements have laid a strong foundation for continued mutual welfare and prosperity.
