Lamichhane moves high court against Rs 10 mn bail in cooperative fraud case

Kathmadu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has moved the Butwal High Court, seeking cancellation of the Rs 10 million bail imposed on him in the Rupandehi Supreme Cooperative case.

The Butwal bench confirmed on Monday that Lamichhane’s petition has been registered. He argues that the bail order issued by the Rupandehi District Court should be annulled under Section 68 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Lamichhane has been facing multiple cooperative fraud cases across Nepal.

In previous rulings, the Kaski District Court ordered his release on a Rs 6.5 million bail in the Surya Darshan Cooperative case, the Kathmandu District Court set bail at Rs 6.6 million in the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative case, and the Chitwan District Court imposed a Rs 5.4 million bail in the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative case.

The Butwal High Court is expected to hear Lamichhane’s plea in the coming days.
