PM Oli set to visit China on first week of December

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to embark on an official visit to China from December 2 to 5, according to high-level sources at the Prime Minister’s Office. The Chinese government has formally extended an invitation for the visit, and preparations are currently being made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In advance of the Prime Minister’s trip, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba is also set to visit China to facilitate the preparations. A senior official at the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed, “The official date for the Prime Minister’s visit has been set, and unless the Chinese government makes changes, he will depart as planned.”

During his visit, PM Oli is expected to engage in discussions on several key issues, including the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects, the reopening of the Kimathanka, Korala, and Hilsa border points, and the long-anticipated Shigatse-Kerung-Kathmandu railway project. Additionally, negotiations will focus on converting the loan for Pokhara Airport into a grant.
