Kathmandu Police unveils security plan for Dashain-Tihar

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu police have announced a comprehensive security plan aimed at ensuring safety during the upcoming major festivals, including Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath. The police have developed this strategy in response to anticipated security challenges associated with these celebrations.

The plan focuses on securing local residents, commercial areas, vacant homes, government offices, banks, financial institutions, and crowded markets. Police have identified potential risks such as theft, robbery, smuggling, gambling, excessive charging of fares by transporters, and fire incidents.

SSP Basant Rajoure of the Kathmandu District Police Office stated that nearly 4,000 officers will be deployed as part of the security strategy to mitigate possible incidents and challenges. He emphasized that the police aim to respond to any reported incidents within 5 to 10 minutes, with a comprehensive response expected within 30 minutes.
